About Me

I'm a software engineer who enjoys building things that actually work in production. I started freelancing back in 2022 and have been doing it seriously since then, picking up TypeScript, React, Node, and databases along the way. My best example of what I can do is nextstep.lk, a marketplace I built from scratch that now has 150+ users and 10+ paid projects running through it. I designed the whole system myself, wrote the backend, set up auth and role management, and deployed it. I like working on problems that have some complexity to them, not just pixel pushing.

Experience
Founder & Software Engineer Feb 2025 – Present
nextstep.lk, Sri Lanka
  • Built a freelance marketplace from zero: database design, backend APIs, auth system with role-based access, and the frontend. Everything done solo.
  • Used TypeScript, Remix, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. Deployed on DigitalOcean and have kept it running since launch.
  • Within 3 months we had 150+ registered users, 20+ student freelancers actively taking on work, and 10+ paid projects completed.
  • Still maintain and improve it. Handle all infrastructure, bug fixes, and new features myself.
Web Developer Jul 2024 – Jan 2025

  • Worked remotely building websites for UAE-based clients using PHP, Laravel, and WordPress.
  • Focused mostly on corporate sites and landing pages: responsive layouts, good performance, lead capture forms.
Freelance Developer 2022 – Present

  • Done various projects for international clients: automation scripts, web scrapers, small web apps. Mostly Python, Selenium, and TypeScript work.
  • Good feedback overall, clients tend to come back for follow-up work.
